Jackalope
The Jackalope
Nobody's ever caught one — but everybody who's carried this blade knows exactly why it's named after a tall tale that refuses to die. 🐇🗡️
The Jackalope is our flagship everyday-carry blade — the knife that shares its name with the company, and the one built to prove it deserves to. Sized for real work and shaped for control, it handles camp chores, field dressing, and the everyday cutting jobs that come up whether you're deep in the woods or just breaking down boxes at home.

Care and Maintenance
- Initial preparation: Comes with a protective coat of food-safe mineral oil — wipe with a clean, dry cloth before first use.
- Cleaning: After use, clean with warm water and mild detergent. Dry thoroughly to prevent surface oxidation. Avoid prolonged soaking.
- Rust prevention: 80CrV2 is a high-carbon steel and benefits from regular oiling. Apply a thin film of gun oil, mineral oil, or food-safe blade oil before storage or after exposure to moisture.
- Sharpening: Maintain the edge with a medium-to-fine stone or guided system. 80CrV2 takes a keen edge — use 400–1000 grit for repairs and 3000–8000 grit for finishing. Stropping restores a polished edge between sharpenings.
- Handle care: G10 and Micarta both require minimal upkeep — clean with mild soap and water, avoid harsh solvents, and dry thoroughly. A light coat of food-safe mineral oil keeps Micarta looking rich; G10 needs no oiling at all. Chose a Custom handle? Just ask and we'll walk you through care for it.
- Sheath care: Kydex — wash with mild soap and water and dry. A light coat of mineral oil keeps the Kydex looking new and helps prevent rust on the UltiClip.
- Storage: Store in a dry, ventilated area. For long-term storage, apply a protective oil coating to the blade and avoid sealed plastic containers that trap moisture.
All of our knives are named for cryptids, and this one's ours. The Jackalope — jackrabbit body, antelope horns — is the great American tall tale, first "mounted" by taxidermist brothers in Douglas, Wyoming in the 1930s. Ranchers swore it could mimic a human voice to throw off hunters, and that it sang along with cowboys' campfire tunes on quiet nights. Nobody's ever caught one. We named the company after it anyway.
